Heart of the Mountain is in Alpha!

It feels like it took a lot longer to get to this point than it should have. Granted, I started getting serious about this game more than a year ago and started my first pass at a digital version last May. And sure, there were some intervening circumstances that interrupted progress for a while. But I've been going on it pretty much non-stop since October. 6 months to get it to the point where it's possible to play from beginning to end without a guaranteed crash or a major missing feature.

Which isn't to say that I can relax. This is a big step, but it's still a very early one. Heart of the Mountain: Digital Version has moved from pre-Alpha to Alpha. It's ready for someone other than me to look at it and say whether there is enough of a kernel there to be worth pouring another 6 or 12 months into.

Most of what I want to say about it I've already said on the webpages I built for the game itself. There is a list of known bugs which (I assume) will grow as people play and run into things I haven't uncovered yet. There's also a list of features I hope to add to the game, assuming I go forward with it at all. There is a LOT of work left to do.

But I'm not going to think about that right now. Right now I'm just going to take a minute to be happy that I got this far.
